Frequently asked questions
How is the benefit amount determined?
The daily allowance = daily average wage × 60%, then a floor and cap are applied (as of 2026: floor ₩66,048, cap ₩68,100 per day). Multiplying this daily amount by the number of benefit days gives the total estimated benefit.
How are benefit days determined?
Benefit days range from 120 to 270 days depending on your age and insured period at the time of separation. Older age and longer insured periods result in more benefit days.
Can anyone receive unemployment benefits?
No. You must have separated involuntarily, have at least 180 insured days in the 18 months before separation, be willing and able to work but unable to find employment, and be actively seeking work. Voluntary resignations may qualify as an exception when a legitimate reason (e.g. unpaid wages, workplace harassment) is recognised.
Why might this calculator's result differ from the actual benefit?
The cap and floor change each year in line with the minimum wage, and the actual average wage calculation has detailed rules around bonuses and annual leave pay. This calculator is a reference estimate based solely on the three-month wage figure you enter.
